What’s the smallest Jeep you can buy? If you value the design over the performance, then you will like the 2017 Jeep Renegade. This is the smallest crossover from Fiat Chrysler’s off-road brand. It continues for its third year with just minor adjustments to the original design of the vehicle. Right now, there are trim levels for the 2017 Jeep Renegade that include Sport, Latitude and Limited, and also the off-road Trailhawk version.
The Renegade is one of the cool cars that one can see as a way to get Jeep-like off-road capabilities that is easier to use in tight city neighborhoods. This cannot be said for the Compass, Patriot and Cherokee crossovers. The 2017 Jeep Renegade is a tall, upright vehicle, with oversized details. The seven-bar grill is flanked by large, round headlights, and the tail lights have an X shape stamped into them. Jeep says that this is an homage to wartime cars.
When it comes to engines, the 2017 Jeep Renegade has a pair of engines. Each of these is offered with a single transmission, but there is also the choice of front-, or all-wheel drive. The base powertrain is a 160-horsepower turbocharged 1.4-liter inline-4, rated at 184 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. If you want, you can upgrade to 180-hp, 2.4 inline-4 that gives you 175 pound-feet of torque and comes with a 9-speed automatic gearbox.
Reports state that the cool vehicle works quite capably off-road. It includes drive settings for extreme conditions: Mud, Snow, and Sand. The Trailhawk model adds a Rock mode and the ability to crawl at low speeds. This, along with the fact that it’s smaller than a typical field car, makes it one of the cool cars to drive off-road with.
The interior is quite good too, though it does have a few drawbacks. For example, people sitting in the rear seat might not find it as comfortable as the front seats. However, if you slide the front seats forward a little, you can get a bit more space in the back.
The 2017 Jeep Renegade comes in four trim levels. The Sport version does not have air conditioning or cruise control, thus keeping the price at around $20,000. The Limited and Latitude models go for around $22,290. The all-wheel drive adds an extra $2,000, which makes these models more appealing to most drivers.
