The 2022 Apple iPhone SE, which you can safely also call iPhone SE 3, will be officially called iPhone SE+ 5G, says the grapevine. That is quite a mouthful, if you ask me. It retains the old-school design of the original iPhone 8 from 2017, meaning that it has a tiny 4.7-inch display and the Touch ID home button that we all love and wish Apple would put back in its higher priced models.
Dated as it looks, the SE+ 5G will be no slouch, though, as it is powered by a A15 Bionic chip, and also includes 5G network support. The A15 Bionic is the same chip that is used in the iPhone 13, 13 mini, 13 Pro, and 13 Pro Max models.
The phone will ship with iOS 15, have IP67 dust/water resistance, and Qi wireless charging. It will be nice to see the phone come with a modest battery capacity in the range of 2500-2800mAh, as well as 18W fast charging as obtains on the iPhone 13 models.
