800,000 units sold in 12 hours!! : Story of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2

Posted by

The Xiaomi we know live on making devices with killer specs and selling them at outrageously low prices. Just last week they announced a successor to their Redmi Note series – the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2. This new guys sparked lots of interest given the features it came with compared to the price.

This device features a 13MP/5MP camera running a 2 Ghz MediaTek Helio X10 Octa-Core processor, and also featuring the the latest MIUI v7 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop, see the full specs sheet HERE. All these comes at the starting price of $125.

It was reported that the first batch of 800,000 units was sold off under 8 hours, Incredible!! It’s still saddening we still can’t get it in this part of the world.

  1. IIRC, that 2 Ghz MediaTek Helio X10 Octa-Core processor is the same SoC in some HTC M9 variants, so essentially Xiaomi put the SoC in a $800 2015 flagship device in a $125 2015 device. ridiculous on so many levels, why won’t the phone sell out in 8 hours?

  2. Well, the phone actually sells for more than the slated price. I’ve contacted these people that ship phones from China to Nigeria; their price is about 40k.
