A first look at BLOCKS, the world’s first modular smartwatch

Posted by

If you’ve heard about the modular smartphone Project Ara, then you’ll have a clearer understanding this smartwatch. BLOCKS is the world’s first modular smartwatch. It has a fully functional face (or center) called the Core. Then there are extra straps or modules that make up the rest of the watch.

The cool thing here is that each module has a unique function. Choose modules you want and build a unique smartwatch that suits your lifestyle and matches your needs. Another cool thing is that this watch is future proof, as modules will be updated to get better in time.

BLOCKS will be compatible with both iPhones (iOS 8 and above) and Android smartphones (Android 4.0+). Starting at $195, you can add more functionality to your BLOCKS watch and get 4 Modules at $250. It will be available by April 2016. See their KickStarter page on the source link.

  1. Another kick starter something… Sigh.. Let’s pray it sees d light of day.. Wasn’t blocks initially supposed to b for mobile?

  2. I was about to ask what happened to the Blocks phone? I’m more likely to buy the phone than the smartwatch.

  3. I wonder what happened to the google Ara project. Idea was wonderful.
I could picture my main device being a bold9900 with 41mp carl zeiss camera, beefed up battery, and samsung screen pixel.
