Android Lollipop users rise to 21%, Google reports

It’s another new month. As always Google have release a chart to show all versions of Android and how they’re distributed in the ecosystem. Last month, Jelly Bean and KitKat made up 70% with Lollipop occupying a little over 18%.

This month, Lollipop has gained more ground, as it has risen to 21%. Gradually, people are adopting the new software, though the matter is not helped by Android fragmentation. The data above was gotten from devices running the latest Google Play Store app. Each snapshot of data represents all the devices that visited the Google Play Store in the prior 7 days.

  1. similar uptake numbers as KitKat & Jelly Bean, hopefully the Android One program and time will help reduce not just fragmentation but persistence of devices running obsolete versions of Android
