The Best $300 Phones of 2021

All the smartphones on this list have high refresh rate displays (90 Hz or 120 Hz), 8 GB RAM, 128 GB ROM (internal storage memory), and at least 33W fast charging. All of them are also powered by capable upper mid-range chipsets. So, as already mentioned, they all deliver solid, near-premium performance.

  1. Xiaomi Poco X3 Pro. This is a 2021 model, runs Android 11, and has a 6.67-inch LCD with 120 Hz refresh rate and gorilla Glass 6 protection. Under the hood is a powerful Snapdragon 860 processor, and it delivers all the power you can dream of at the price point. You can find the 6/128 GB variant for $249 and the 8/228 GB variant for $299 on Banggood. If you are buying in the United States (USA), the price on eBay is about $340. Don’t ask me why. In the United Kingdom (UK), you can pick a 6/128 GB for £249 and 8/128 GB (which is our focus here) for £299.
  2. Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro. Announced just this year as well, this is one of the most value-packed smartphones around in 2021. It runs Android 11, and has a 6.67-inch 120 Hz refresh rate AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The Snapdragon 732G processor delivers near-flagship performance. It has three memory variants, which are available internationally, as follows: 6/64 GB for $279, 6/128 GB for $299, and 8/128 GB (again, our focus here) for $329. In Nigeria, those variants come to ₦116,000, ₦126,500, and ₦135,000 respectively.
  3. Infinix Zero 8. The Zero 8 has a massive 6.85-inch LCD with 90 Hz refresh rate, runs Android 10, and is powered by a Helio G90T processor and is available in an 8/128 GB trim. It sells for $250 across Asia and €210 in the European Union region. You will find it for ₦123,000 at Slot, Pointek, and other stores in Nigeria as well. In Ghana, it is available for GHS 1,549, while it sells for Ksh. 28,500 in Kenya.
  4. TECNO Camon 16 Premier. Powered by a Helio G90T processor and running Android 10 out of the box, this TECNO phone model has a 6.85-inch IPS LCD with 90 Hz refresh rate. It is available for 230 euro. In Nigeria, you can pick one up for ₦120,000 at Slot, Pointek, and other stores. It sells for KSh 28,999 in Kenya, and for as low as GH₵ 1,540 in Ghana through online stores like Jumia and others.

All the above smartphones have 33W fast charging technology. As far as I am concerned, 33W fast charging is a very sweet spot you don’t ever want to step down from. Their battery capacities vary from 4500 to 5160 mAh. That is a good range to be in, and you don’t have to worry about battery life.

These smartphones are available in many more countries than I am able to list here, so check at your local retailer or your favourite online store. I hope this list helps you with your budget phone shopping.
