The best budget smartphones of 2019: 8GB RAM options
This article is split into two lists, and the first has to do with the top budget Android phones with 8GB RAM. You could say that they are also the cheapest 8GB RAM phones available in the market.
OPPO A9 2020
OPPO A9 2020 has a 6.5″ LCD display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection and waterdrop notch, 128GB storage, 8GB RAM, Snapdragon 665 processor, 48MP quad camera, and a 5000mAh battery with 10W quick charging. It costs a modest ₦90,000 only.
Vivo V17 Pro
You get to understand how much value for money the OPPO A9 2020 is when you have a look at what you get for ₦130,000 with the Vivo V17 Pro. A 6.44 inches Super AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass 6, Snapdragon 675 processor, 128GB storage, and 8GB RAM.
There is also a 48MP quad camera at the back, a motorized 32MP + 8MP pop-up selfie dual camera, a 4100 mAh battery, and 18W fast charging.

The best budget smartphones of 2019: 6GB RAM options
The second part of this article lists the top budget smartphones of 2019 with 6GB RAM. While we have only two phones iwth 8GB of RAM above, there are a little more in this 6GB RAM segment. Like we did with the 8GB RAM budget smartphones above, we will count up from the most affordable to the most expensive of the list.
Infinix S5 has two variants – one with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The higher variant, with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is the one that makes this list: What does it offer?
A 6.6″ IPS display, Helio P22 processor, 6GB of RAM, 128GB storage, 16 MP + 5MP + 2 MP triple camera with quad LED light, 32MP selfie camera, and a non-removable Lithium-Polymer 4000 mAh battery. There is no fast charging standard available.
This variant of the Infinix S5 is available in the amrket for ₦65,000.
TECNO Phantom 9
Up next on our list of the best budget smartphones of 2019 with 6GB RAM is another model from Transsion, TECNO Phantom 9. It has a 6.39″ AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The fingerprint scanner is embedded in the display. Powering the phone is a Helio P35 processor, 6GB RAM, and 128GB storage.
There is a 16MP triple camera at the back and a 32MP selfie camera at the front. The battery is of 3500mAh capacity, and it is sad that, like the Infinix S5, it lacks quick charging. TECNO Phantom 9 costs only ₦74,000.
Huawei P30 Lite
It has a nice, compact 6.15-inch IPS display and is powered by a Hisilicon Kirin 710 processor. Internal storage is 128GB. There are variants with 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB RAM. The 6GB RAM variant has a price tag of ₦90,000.
There is a 48MP triple camera at the back and a 24MP selfie camera in front. The battery capacity is 3340mAh and there is 18W quick charging to go with it.
Xiaomi Note 8 Pro
Xiaomi Note 8 Pro brings a 6.53″ IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 to the game. It packs the powerful Mediatek Helio G90T chipset, making it one of the most powerful models on this page. RAM is 6GB. There is a version with 64GB, but this list is concerned with the 128GB variant, which will set you back by ₦90,000.
Other features include a 64MP quad camera, a 20MP selfie camera, and a a 4500mAh battery coupled with 18W fast charging.
We have another model from Chinese smartphone maker, Huawei, on this list of the best budget smartphones of 2019. The Huawei Y9s has a big 6.59-inch IPS display. It is powered by the competent Hisilicon Kirin 710 processor and 6GB RAM. As is common to this list, internal storage is 128GB.
The rear camera is a 48 MP triple camera, while the selfie camera is a motorized pop-up 16MP shooter. There is a 4000 mAh battery, coupled with a basic 10W fast charging.
Huawei Y9s sells for ₦98,000.
HMD Global’s Nokia 7.2 has a body that is made of a high-tech polymer composite that the company says is double the strength of regular polycarbonate, but half the weight of aluminium. The IPS LCD, 2.5D display has Corning® Gorilla® Glass 3 is 6.3” in size and supports HDR10.
Powering the phone is a dated but fairly capable Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor coupled with 6GB RAM. We wish HMD Global had gone with a more recent processor. Internal storage is 128GB.
At the back is a triple camera with Zeiss optics, while in front is a 20MP ZEISS camera. Battery capacity is 3,500mAh and you get a slowish 10W quick charging to go with it. In addition, the Nokia 7.2 offers 2 years of Android version updates and 3 years security updates.
Price of the Nokia 7.2 is ₦100,000.
Samsung Galaxy A70
Samsung Galaxy A70 2019 is a 6GB RAM phone that takes us above the ₦100,000 price mark. It offers a massive 6.7 inches Super AMOLED display with an embedded fingerprint scanner, a decent Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 processor, 6GB of RAM, 128 GB internal storage, a 32 MP triple camera, 32MP selfie camera, a massive 4500 mAh battery and super-fast 25W quick charging.
We think the Galaxy A70 is worth every naira of its ₦115,000 price tag.
Xiaomi Mi 9T
For extra ₦5,000 extra, you can go home with the Xiaomi Mi 9T and experience the 6.39 inches AMOLED display, in-display fingerprint scanner, the powerful Snapdragon 730 processor, 6GB RAM, 128 GB storage, 48MP rear camera, 20MP motorized pop-up selfie camera, 4000mAh battery, and 18W quick charging.
OPPO F11 Pro
OPPO F11 Pro comes to the table with a 6.53″ display, a decent Mediatek Helio P70 processor, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB internal storage. The selfie camera is a motorized pop-up 16MP unit. At the back is a 48MP dual camera and a fingerprint scanner.
Keeping the lights on in the F11 pro is a 4000mAh battery with 20W fast charging. The price is ₦120,000.
