BlackBerry Maps: Do you use it?

I was doing an audit of apps on my BlackBerry smartphone today. Going through the list of installed apps, when I ran into BlackBerry Maps, it dawned on me that this was the one app that I don’t use. I remember trying it once sometime ago, and finding it not capable enough. It was hardly useful for finding any location here. Perhaps, it has more detailed maps for other countries and so is more useful there, but it is the one app on Blackberry that I do not bother with anymore.

Since then, I usually delete it off my BlackBerry smartphones to make room for other apps. For maps and navigation, my first choice is Nokia Maps any day, and where not available, I settle for Google Maps.

Again, this could just be exclusive to my experience with Blackberry Maps. How many of you BlackBerry fans out there find the built-in Maps application and services useful? Do share your experiences.

  1. I have never used Blackberry Maps either. I uninstalled it on the 2 blackberry phones that I’ve used.

For mapping/navigation, Nokia Maps on my N8 is the best. I’ve used Goggle Maps only on my PC.

Nokia maps is the Gold standard when it comes to mobile maps. I make sure I update mine on my C6 to get the freshest from Nokia. Guess what? My last update of Nigeria’s map had all the BRT bus stops carefully mapped out. It’s the best out there.

Glad I’m not the only one thinking Nokia maps is the best. As for Blackberry Maps, used it once and it was difficult enough trying to find a well signposted place with it, but at least I got there in the end.

When I had my last Blackberry, I deleted it and replaced it with Google Maps. And with my next BB, I will do the same. Or just use my Android phone instead.

I have and be using blackberry maps a lot. Although nokia maps are by far the best, but if you have the OS7, you will find out that the maps aren’t that bad.
