We have heard the rumors time and time again that BlackBerry is considering running Android in their newer devices. Devices have leaked, specs and released dates have surfaced. Popular @evleaks still dropping renders, images and teasers for this upcoming device. Last week, a not so clear video showcasing the new BlackBerry Classic Silver Edition running Android came up.BB Classic Lollipop

If you took it with a pinch of salt, then here’s another clearer video showing the same BlackBerry Passport Silver Edition running Android Lollipop in its full glory!! In the video, you’ll also get to see another of the same BlackBerry Passport running BlackBerry 10.

This got me wondering. Are we going to install Android on our BlackBerry 10 devices? Or is there going to be a different variant running Android. See the video for yourself below.

Another leak from @evleaks shows some BlackBerry apps rendered in APK. Below you’ll see apps like Calender, Meetings, Hub etc, all with the “.apk” tag. This goes to tell us these so called BlackBerry Android’s will not be running stock Android, rather something customized.

Time may just be the only answer to all the speculation. Let’s wait and see what BlackBerry truly has in store for us.

  1. I dont think I will install android on my BlackBerry.

I’m really not a fan of Android but then again, seems BlackBerry has a plan with this android adoption.

    Time will tell!

  2. apparently BlackBerry are embracing the “OS as a skin” concept. the device will run Android while delivering the usual BlackBerry apps & experience. a better approach than what Nokia/Microsoft tried to do with the X line
