BlackBerry to focus on high-end, QWERTY phones; plus few touch-screen models

BlackBerry Q10

BlackBerry has done a bit of dancing around in recent times, trying to see what works best for it apparently. Following its foray into budget with the budget touchscreen Z3, the new CEO of the company has been quoted as saying that the future of BlackBerry lies in high-end QWERTY smartphones.

“We’ll concentrate on high-end phones for the enterprise customer. The majority of our phones will be keyboarded, but there will still be touch screens.

“The only people we can really interest are the prosumers, at least for the next 2-3 years”

So, users can expect predominantly high-end phones with QWERTY keyboard, and a few budget models. We think though that the swinging statements can be a bit confusing for many people. BlackBerry fans, what do you think?

I am no BlackBerry fan. Actually, I hate the brand like Boko Haram.

Trying to be objective, though, I think the Blackberry brand has become synonymous with indecisiveness. It would not surprise me if they decide to go full touchscreen six months down the line.

The volume of sales commanded by touchscreen. phones shows clearly that (the majority of). people, who are on autosync with modern trends, have left hardware keyboards in the past. permanently.

let Blackberry keep embracing the past, and we shall see how that takes them to improved future.

BBRY still sees a future in its age-old strength: the traditiional QWERTY. They’ve won with the keyboard and they might win again. I don’t think its indecisiveness, I see them as playing (safe) to their strength as a way of distinguishing herself from competition. Noe one else does QWERTY, do they?

in my opinion, the Torch 1/2 form factor with the slide out QWERTY keyboard should be the next step Blackberry should think about. Especially when it comes with the BB10.2.1 OS oe better still 10.3.
Blackberry doesn’t have to always follow the trend and build what everyone is building. They should do the pure touch-screens for “modern” people and for those of us “öld-fashionistas” a hardware QWERTY is always best.

Honestly I do not mind if they focus on physical keyboards. There is still a market for it. heck, I would buy it and not nag on forums. I’m super fast with swype and all other funky virtual keyboards still I would rather send messages on my bold 6-which I will retire shortly for another qwerty.

PS: their focusing on it doesn’t spell doom for touch screens

I think blackberry should make a windows phone with physical keyboard , personally I think all the things we wanna do on our big phones we can do it on an inexpensive 8inch or 10inch tablets and it will be more spacious.
