How to convert your Android phone to the BlackBerry Priv

Posted by

It’s no longer news that the BlackBerry Priv is the Canadian company’s very first Android smartphone. Just before it was officially launched, the company uploaded all the stock apps of the phone to Google Play Store. This is to give other Android users a chance of trying the apps. So far, the links are still not available for users in this country. At least that’s what it tells me.

Thanks to the nerds on Xda-developers, we have here a list of the apps ported for your pleasure. Before downloading, here are a few pointers:

  • All apps work only on Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and above.
  • For some apps, you’ll need root access and BlackBerry services installed.

Here are download links for the ported apps:

  • BlackBerry Keyboard: Download it HERE or HERE or HERE.
  • BlackBerry Services : Needed for Launcher and most likely all other apps, Download it HERE.
  • BlackBerry Launcher: Download it HERE.
  • BlackBerry Calendar: Download it HERE.
  • BlackBerry Hub: Requires root, download it HERE.

I’m already hearing good stories about the launcher, though it is the keyboard I want to try first. Try these apps on your Android phone and drop your verdict.
