It was at Microsoft’s BUILD event in 2014, that the company launched her own digital assistant. It was first used in Windows Phone 8.1 before finding its way to Windows 10, and subsequently on Android and iOS.
All this while, Microsoft has been adding features to it. This April, the app is 2 years old, and Microsoft has announced some new features added to the app:
- Cortana can now make suggestions for you through-out the day, for instance, it can offer to arrange your transportation, or buy you lunch.
- There is now a new Cortana Collection in the Windows Store to help users great apps with Cortana.
- Cortana will now be accessible via the lock screen, giving you quicker access to handle common tasks across all types of devices.
With the new access to handling notification-based tasks on both Windows or Android phone, Cortana just got smarter, and could stay relevant for the next few years to come.
