Etisalat quietly announces a N1,000 for 1GB data plan

Gradually, surely and steadily, the price of data plans is reducing. It has always been my dream that one day we will have to pay N1000 for 1GB worth of data, and it appears it’s now a reality. Within the last week, Etisalat started sending out texts to customers. The text goes thus:

Get 1GB data for N1000 Now.  Dial *229*2*7#. Data plan is valid for 30 days.

So once you dial the code, the data is yours. It seems this data plan works through eligibility, so if you haven’t received the text yet, it means you’re not eligible. This is a welcome development, especially for us, the users. Data resellers will frown at this because the higher data allocation is spoiling their business. Let’s see how MTN, GLO, and Airtel reacts to this.

  1. A good development. This could prompt me to look for my Etisalat SIM and put it to service ocassionaly.

All this does is to spoil business For the Data Reseller People. The other networks are bound to follow with similar offerings.

A while back this piece of news would have done some magic on my adrenaline, but when you already do GLO 3 Gig for ?1k, or partake of the MTN + Simple-Server magiQue, it’s truly difficult to get excited about this ..

  2. Another good development from Etisalat but i am sceptical about their bundle being a data guzzler. At least from my xperience the data may not last 2wks.However we expect others to follow suit.I forsee that the Wifi for the public being planned by Lagos state Government may go a long way in forcing the networks to reduce data prices.

  3. this isn’t new, been using it for over a month. was announced the same time the 2 GB, 2000 plan was announced
