A week after the same service was shut down in India, Facebookâs Free Basics in Egypt, a two-month old partnership with Etisalat to provide free internet to millions of subscribers, has been shut down effective 30th December, 2015. The service was shut down in India over net neutrality concerns by the regulatory agency. In India, Free Basics was offered through Reliance Communications.
