I am laughing my head off here. Sony’s Z2 packs a 21 MP camera with autofocus and LED flash, while Nokia’s 1020 packs a glorious 41 MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus and Xenon and LED flash combined. It is an uneven match if that were all to it, especially if the Z2’s camera is same as the uninspiring 21MP camera on the Xperia Z1 Compact.
To be honest, Sony didn’t claim that the Xperia Z2 is the world’s best camera in a phone. It said “the world’s best camera in a waterproof smartphone“. Unless the Lumia 1020 can endure being 1 metre underwater for 30 minutes, this duel is going to go bad for it. Last I checked, it wasn’t waterproof.
The Lumia 1020 may be the world’s undisputed smartphone camera overall, but I wager that the Z2 owns Atlantis and the other realms below the surface. Still, can we get the aquarium ready…? This ought’a be fun!
Come to think of it now, Nokia, how about taking the fight to the enemy with a waterproof Lumia?
