Google, Motorola and Lenovo: Sneaky

The summary

Google buys Motorola. Lenovo buys Motorola from Google. Google buys stake in Lenovo.

The details

As part of the deal to sell Motorola to Lenovo for $2.91 billion, Google will also be receiving a 6% stake in Lenovo. That 6% stake is worth $750 million.

Honestly, Google is sneaky. Letting go without really letting go. Think of the different scenarios that can play out from this. One hint: Google has its eyes on the Chinese market. Yes; that Eastern country to which the smartphone pillar of fire moved from the US.

Mister Mobility

I started blogging about mobile in 2004 as a fun way to share my passion for gadgets and mobile services. My other interests include digital media, speaking and teaching, photography, travelling, and dancing.
