Here are BlackBerry’s software update plans for the PRIV

Posted by

BlackBerry’s first Android smartphone, PRIV, is out in stores now. Out of the box, it runs Android 5 Lollipop. Perhaps you have been wondering if the device would be getting an update to Android 6 Marshmallow, seeing that this latest version of Android is out already. Well, the guys at Android Central put the question to BlackBerry’s President of Devices and Global Director of Device Portfolio Planning.

The response is that BlackBerry is planning an update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow “sometime in the new year.”

But what of other updates, like Android system/security updates? BlackBerry is also planning to regularly push those out to the Priv within a month of Google releasing them.

Sounds good; right?

  1. I still don’t think I’m going to get this phone. Besides the security features, not else has gotten my interest.

  2. For the price you must be in real need of a Blackberry Android phone to splurge for it,nothing much to get excited about here..
