Technologies used some years ago are now either obsolete or have been re-invented. We used to have Nokia 3310, Motorola, Ericsson, etc. as phone years back, but today what is trending are smartphones more powerful than the first rocket that took man to the moon. All these are as a result of constant disruption. Today, social media platforms have become popular for engagement and conversation purposes. How did Facebook, Google, Twitter, etc begin?
Nigeria Int’l Technology Exhibition & Conference (NITEC) seeks to ginger conversations around disruptive technologies so Nigeria can leverage for development.
The key focus of NITEC is how Nigerians can use technology to grow GDP in the African continent. For example, Nigeria’s movie industry (Nollywood) and the music industry have contributed significantly to the GDP of Nigeria’s economy. NITEC therefore, is providing a platform where technology can be used to grow the economy of Nigeria and Africa in general because the ‘future belongs to innovators’.
As a starting point, NITEC has engaged online influencers and bloggers as stakeholders to tell the NITEC story – to create awareness and promote NITEC.
NITEC is also collaborating with key stakeholders such as Nigeria Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NIRA), etc, to promote smart ICT solutions. NITEC has a strong lineup of speakers from within the Nigeria technology ecosystem.
Sessions at the event will include Digital Innovation, Tech Future, Disruptive Hardware, Design and Development. Under these sessions, topics such as Digital Media, Productivity, Smart Cites, Clean-Tech, Energy, Internet of Things, Mobility etc. How can disruptive technologies help propel Nigeria forward? Let’s discuss at NITEC.
The event is scheduled to hold on June 23 & 24, 2016 at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos. The event will run from 9.00am and 5.00pm daily, while there will be cocktails and networking forum on the second day. Visit www.nitec.com.ng for registration, sponsorship and exhibition details.
