Typing the Naira sign on a mobile phone has got to be one of the most difficult things to do. Trust me, I’ve been there. Before now, I was able to do it with the extra functionality of Kii Keyboard. Adding it to replace the word “Naira”, but it was stress honestly. Google finally came to rescue with their recently launched Gboard app.

How to get the Naira sign on your phone

  • First of all, install Gboard app on Google Play Store here.
  • Open the app and click on Languages.
  • Select English (Nigeria) and give it a moment to download. That’s all.

  1. A more efficient way is to get a Keyboard that is configurable, and that allows the specification of any characters on a toolbar, or on any key position.. keyboard apps like Chrooma Keyboard or MultiLing ‘O’.

    If I was a mathematics lecturer and had to frequently input the Greek alphabets, for example,obviously a keyboard like GBoard – Google Keyboard falls flat on its face here..
