How to disable automatic software updates on BlackBerry 10

BB10 auto software updates

Still on the subject of the recent bug issues with the latest BlackBerry 10 software update, a reader mentioned how the update was downloaded and installed on his phone without him being asked if he wanted it. That must mean that automatic software updates was enabled on his device.

But the ability to enable/disable this feature is available on your device. If you do not want your BlackBerry 10 smartphone to automatically download software updates, you can disable automatic updates by taking the following steps:

Go to Settings -> Software Updates -> Options (at the bottom of the screen) -> Use the toggle to turn automatic updates off. Auto updates is on if the toggle is blue, and off when it is greyed out.

That’s it. Now, you will be notified when an update is available and you can decide whether or not you want to download it.
