The Huawei Nova 3i hit the market in July 2018 as an upper mid-range smartphone. I finally got my hands on it and now bring you this hands-on review.
The Nova 3i is 4G smartphone and has a 6.3-inch display, 4 GB RAM, and 128 GB internal storage. It is a dual-SIM device, with the second SIM slot doubling as a memory card slot. But unless you are a huge consumer, you are not likely to need a memory card.
There is a dual camera in front and another dual camera at the back. Considering huawei’s recent track record with cameraphones, we are looking forward to seeing how good the cameras perform.
Before we jump into our unboxing and hands-on, let’s run quickly through the key specs of the device.

Unboxing Huawei Nova 3i
In the box is the smartphone itself, USB cable, charger plug, 3.5mm audio headset, a transparent case, SIM card ejector, as well as the mandatory leaflets.
Our review unit is in colour black. We like the no-frills, compact packaging.
Design and Handling
The nova 3i is a slim, sleek and beautiful device with glass on the front and back. That means it is also a delicate device. So, you don’t want it dropping to any hard surface.
The manufacturer was proactive and included a transparent case in the box so you can keep it protected from the get-go. Yes; the case detracts from the beauty of the device, but if you have a track record of dropping your smartphone, do use it to avoid stories that touch.
If you looked at the pictures, you already know that there is a wide notch on the display. I am not a fan of most display notches, and this is not an exception. But that is a personal preference and there are many who love it.
The wide notch houses a selfie dual camera combing a 24-megapixel lens and a 2-megapixel lens. And it takes solid pictures. Here is an indoor selfie I took with it:
The few shots I took with the cameras on the Huawei Nova 3i immediately reminded me that this brand now makes some of the best cameraphones in the world.
Huawei has mastered cameraphone technology and it shows in all their new devices. We are loving what we have seen of the Nova 3i’s cameras. We will bring you more samples in our full review.
Could the Nova 3i be the last phone review of 2018 for me? Time will tell. But it is looking like one of the finest smartphones we have handled here at MobilityArena this year. And that is saying something.
