OPPO has introduced two new models to its A-series (A for affordable). Say hello to OPPO A91 and OPPO A8. The former is a mid-range smartphone, while the latter is entry-level.
Both phones run Android 9 Pie with OPPO’s custom user interface, ColorOS 6.1, and they are powered by MediaTek chipsets.
Let’s have a quick look at what each of them bring to the table.
The OPPO A91 has a 6.4-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a tall, 20:9 aspect ratio, small waterdrop notch, and embedded fingerprint scanner.
The selfie camera is a 16 MP shooter, while at the back is a quad-camera setup with a 48MP primary lens, 8MP ultrawide lens, a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor.
Keeping the A91 running smooth is a MediaTek Helio P70 chipset, coupled with 8GB of RAM. Internal memory is a generous 128GB, and there is a microSD slot to boost that should you need more space.
Battery capacity is 4,000 mAh along with 30W VOOC 3.0 fast charging.
Available colours are Dark Blue, Red and Gradient. Buying one will set you back by CNY 1,999 ($285).
OPPO A8s has a 6.5-inch HD+ IPS screen with the same 20:9 aspect ratio as the A91 and an 8MP selfie camera embedded in the waterdrop notch. The back side of the phone sports a triple camera setup with a 12MP main lens and two 2MP lens. This time, the fingerprint scanner is rear-mounted.
And this time, we have a Mediatek Helio P35 chipset running the show. There is 4GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The beefy 4,230 mAh battery does not support any fast charging standard.
The OPPO A8 is available in Azure and Black colours. Price? From CNY 1,199 ($170).

Initial launch has been done in China. OPPO is yet to say whether or not these two models will be available in any other country or region. Sales for both models kick off on the 26th of December, 2019.
