The mobile industry bloodbath may not be happening only in the hardware area, it seems. Nollywood movie download service, IrokoTV, has been laying off scores of staff in the last two weeks. A former staff of iROKOtv confirmed to MobilityArena.com that most of the lay offs happened in the offline sales department and affected management level staff as well.
If you remember, iROKOtv recently shut down its desktop and streaming service in Africa.
Wahala!
Jumia was also rumoured to have laid off hundreds of their staff three days ago..
Hmmmm…
Serious wahala!! No paid employment is secure.
Keep striving and keep having BackUps
Naija no dey level,retrenchments everywhere..
Guess the bloodbath has come on our shore. Lets wait for the big fish i.e. Mtn and co before knowing the extent of loss
Sigh… Job security is paramount these days…
Why would jumia want to do such a thing, tot they were on a balling levels
Not unexpected… Irokotv was becoming less non obsolete IMO
You have to wonder about how conducive the environment is for these businesses that they are laying off staff in order to stay afloat.
