Jaguar Land Rover is playing in the electric vehicle game, as much as the EV poster boy, Telsa, is, and the Jaguar I-Pace electric SUV is a stunning beast. It is the first all-electric performance SUV from Jaguar.

You already know that electric vehicles are here to stay. While new brands like Tesla may dominate the headlines, it is not one of the top 5 electric vehicle manufacturers. Neither is Jaguar, but if you are a fan of the brand, the Jaguar I-Pace will have you excited about going green on wheels. Allow me to whet you appetite.

The i-Pace goes from 0 to 96.5 km per hour in 4.5 seconds. If there is one thing electric cars are great at, it is acceleration. The reason is not far-fetched. Unlike combustion engines, an electric motor delivers full torque instantly. This electric SUV from Jaguar is an example of that principle at work.

Jaguar I-Pace Electric SUV: Performance

The I‑PACE is a pure battery electric vehicle (BEV) propelled by two permanent magnet synchronous electric motors. They generate 394 HP and 512 Lb-Ft of torque – all available to the driver instantly. What a rush.

But what of range? Driving range has been one of the weak points of electric vehicles. You don’t want to drive 20 kilometres and find out that you are running out of power; do you? Well, the Jaguar I-Pace will go 386 kilometres on a full battery. That means from Lagos, the I-Pace will get you to Jebba on a full charge.

Not bad. Electric vehicles are improving on range, and it will get better as battery technology improves. I know; you might get to Jebba and find no charging station. LOL.

Jaguar I-Pace In-Car Technologies

The I-Pace has the Touch Pro® Duo infotainment system built in, as well as a navigation system. You can also install a 4G SIM card in the car’s system for LTE connectivity, and you can share it with other occupants during your drive. The car’s system is compatible with the most Apple and Android smartphones.

For interaction, there are two touchscreens on the dash of the car. The main one is the a 12.3-inch Interactive Driver Display right in front of the driver. Instead of merely displaying the usual driving information, the driver can interact with it via touch. An included functionality is full-screen navigation with 3D mapping.

And what is even more exciting is the optional Head-Up Display which presents your speed and navigation directions on the wind-shield.

Jaguar I-Pace Models

There are 3 models of the Jaguar I-Pace, namely: I-Pace S, I-Pace SE, and I-Pace HSE.

The base model, I-Pace S, costs from $69,500. The most advanced model, I-Pace SE, starts from $80,500.

The I-Pace electric SUV is all shades of awesome. The Prince of Wales has already copped one, as reported by Jaguar USA:

I imagine that HRH’s model is a completely fitted out Jaguar I-Pace SE. It must be a marvel to drive or be driven in.

The I-Pace is a powerful beast and a beautiful big cat. It is a new kind though; you won’t hear a roar no matter how pissed off it is.
