Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi? A lot of people have asked this question, yet failed to get a definitive answer. Well, you don’t need to ask anymore. You can make any of them the best in the world. That is, if you play as them in La Liga Puzzle Quest, the official mobile game of the Spanish La Liga.
Football fans would be drawn to this game, thinking it is a football game. Disclaimer: this is not a football game. It’s more like La Liga meets Candy Crush. Fans of “match three” games would fit right in with this game. The game is all about matching three gems to move the ball forward, and hopefully score a goal against your opponent. Connect offensive and defensive gems to play the game, score goals and have fun. Your moves on the board have an impact on the playing field and the number of goals you score. You can play as either an attacker, midfielder, defender or a goalkeeper.
Or at least, that’s what the game should be. Instead, la Liga Puzzle Quest is just puzzling. Do you play online or offline? The official Play Store description claims that you can play offline, yet I can’t seem to be able to play without my mobile data turned on. Anyway, when I eventually got to play the game, it turned out to be just another Candy Crush copycat. But this this has a twist: you match certain gems to attack, and you match other gems to defend. This is easy, right?
Well, it’s not as simple as it looks. There are three different gems for attacking, and three more for defending. Each group of gems has its marks and area of effectiveness. So, if you use one in the wrong area, you’d just get pushed back to your goal area, and it works against you in the long run. Most annoying of all, you don’t get to choose either Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi when you pick a player. Maybe that’s just me being petulant, but it’s Cristiano I came to see, not Angel Correa. At this point, you’d be wondering what you’re even doing here.
La Liga Puzzle Quest is available on Google Play Store and on the Apple App Store.
