For less than ₦70,000, the Lenovo Z5s is a super Android 9 phone that features a 6.3″ display, triple rear camera, 6GB RAM, 128GB internal storage, 3300mAh battery and 15W fast charging.

Lenovo Z5s is a super smartphone under ₦70,000: 6GB RAM, 128GB ROM, triple camera

I am always looking out for gadgets with the best possible value at the lowest possible price. Why? Because I do not believe that the most expensive products or solutions necessarily offer the most value for money. And that has been proven time and time again. The Lenovo Z5s is a product that fits right in that bracket.

Think of a 6.3″ waterdrop IPS LCD display with 1080 x 2340 pixels and Corning Gorilla Glass protection, Android 9 Pie, dual-SIM support, Snapdragon 710 processor, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage, 16MP selfie camera, 16MP + 8MP + 5MP rear triple camera, USB type-C connectivity, 3300mAh battery, and 15W fast charging for less than $200 or ₦70,000, and you are looking at a deal that is chocolatey-sweet. Apologies to those who do not like chocolate. But wait: how can you not like chocolate? How?!

There is a less costly 64GB storage version as well, which sells for under ₦60,000, so you can even spend less. For both variants, you can use a micro-SD card of up to 256GB capacity, but you will have to give up the second SIM card slot for that.

What is the Z5s made of? Plastic is the material, and it comes in three colour options: Starry Night Grey, Love Orange, and Titanium Blue. Sigh. These names. Couldn’t they just have said, Grey, orange, and blue?

Lenovo Z5s is a 4G LTE phone with support for up to 12 LTE bands. Glo users will, at this point, want to know whether it supports their beloved band 28(700). Sorry, guys; it does not. But Glo’s new LTE band 3(1800) is constantly spreading and should get to your location soon, if it isn’t already there, and the Z5s supports that.

Will Lenovo Z5s get Android 10?

If you are particular about software updtes, there has been no official confirmation from Lenovo that the Z5s will get updated with Android 10. However, reports from users is that the phone is fairly regularly updated with Google security patches.

You will have to keep your nose to the ground for news about a Lenovo Z5s Android 10 update.

The Lenovo Z5s has the specs of a smartphone that guarantees great performance. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset is a powerful one, and even gamers will love it. Also, with 6GB of RAM, opening and switching between apps will be very smooth. Most people live well with 64GB storage, and if you opt for the 128GB storage, it gets twice as nice.

How much does Lenovo Z5s cost?

The 64GB storage variant sells for as low as ₦51,500 right now on AliExpress, while the 128GB variant currently sells for ₦61,000. Add ₦3,000 for shipping, and you are good to go.

You will be hard pressed to find alternatives that offer as much value at the same price points that both variants exist in.

Is Lenovo Z5s a good phone?

I haven’t handled one yet and so cannot give you a stamp. But I do know that Lenovo makes good phones. I have owned one before and it was a blissful experience.  You may want to read up my Lenovo Vibe S1 review.

In addition, we have a few other Lenovo phone reviews here on MobilityArena. Here they are:

Feel free to check those out as well. Lastly, Lenovo are the owners of Motorola Mobile now, so they make those nice Moto phones that many people like. That should count for something and give you an idea of what to expect from a Lenovo smartphone. I mean, Motorola and Lenovo is like Redmi and Xiaomi, and Realme and OPPO. You get it.

As always, the decision to buy lies with you and the usual caveat stands: I am not responsible for the outcomes of your decisions. I find what looks like a good deal that you might like, and I point you at it. That’s all. Do some extra research, if you must.

Another caveat. This model is the Chinese version with global ROM. What does that mean? It means that Google Mobile Services and apps are supported, but you will get imperfectly-translated English here and there in the menus. You know, English as spoken by the Chinese. 😀 You can live with that; can’t you? You can’t? Oh, crap.

You should have a look at this list of other smartphones under $200 (70,000) then. Let me know how it goes.
