LG G4 becomes the first non-Nexus device to receive Android Marshmallow update

Android 6.o Marshmallow is here. But with the normal tradition, Nexus and Android One devices receive the updates first. This is then followed by other manufacturers. It’s surprising to see LG announcing the availability of the update so soon. They also claim the LG G4 would be the world’s first non-Nexus device to receive this update. LG-G4-Android-MIn a press release, the company claimed the update will be ready for users of the G4 sometime this week. Users in Poland will be getting it first, (I wonder why Poland? 🙄 ) followed by other markets like America and Asia.

Chris Yie, VP and Head of Marketing Communications for LG Mobile had the following to say:

“By working closely with Google, LG has been able to bring Android 6.0 to the G4 ahead of any of our competitors,”

“While speed alone isn’t an indicator of great service, it does go a long way toward giving consumers the confidence that LG is committed to its existing customers first.”

The company claims to be “working closely” with Google. If they actually pull this off, it would be welcome news considering that other OEM’s take months to provide updates to users.
