Emoji passwords could just be the next best thing

Smileys and emoji are gradually becoming part of us, especially while communicating via social media. A UK based technology firm, Intelligent Environments has tapped into this trend to launch the world’s first emoji-only passcode.

The emoji passcode allows customers to log into their banks using 4 emoji characters instead of the regular PIN’s or passwords. The service has also been extended to their Android digital banking app and has the following points going for it:

  • It is easier to remember unlike traditional passwords.
  • It is mathematically more secure, stopping hackers from easily identifying common and easily obtainable numerical passcodes, like a date of birth or a wedding anniversary.

Below is a short video demonstration of Emoji passwords in action.
