There’s great news for fans of the XBox gaming console. Microsoft has announced a release date for the latest version of the device, known as the XBox One X. This comes one year after the company unveiled Project Scorpio, which was touted as an XBox capable of playing games at 4K resolution and supporting VR. Microsoft has released the last few details of the console at the 2017 Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles.
Now, here’s the thing. The Xbox One X is not all about new games. The company did not bother with new video game hardware, instead focusing on upgrades. According to Microsoft, the Xbox One X will not have any exclusive games. Instead, it will play the same games you can play on an Xbox One or an XBox One S, but much faster and at a higher fidelity. This new console has about 4.5 times the power of an original Xbox, and can run these games at 4K resolution at 60 frames per second. in contrast, the current Xbox One barely manages to play some games at 1,920×1,080-pixel resolution.
Furthermore, the company announced that every new game from its internal studios will run natively at 4K resolution. Also, the One X will unlock the potential of some existing titles too. games like Halo 5, The Witcher 3 and The Division will run smoother than ever, and you won’t need to dial down the graphics.
Older games will load faster too. Microsoft announced that the Xbox One X has a 31-percent faster CPU and hard drive. The device has 9GB of memory available to game developers, and since the original Xbox One games were designed to use up no more than 5GB, the extra 4GB can be used as a cache to speed up loading times.
Here are some games that will get an XboxOneX boost:
- Forza Motosport 7: The game is coming to Xbox and Windows 10 on October 3,2017, so the enhancements might not be available at launch.
- Metro Exodus
- Assassins Creed Origins
- PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds
- Deep Rock Galactic
- State of Decay 2
- Dragon Ball FighterZ
- Black Desert: The MMORPG
- The Last Night
- Sea of Thieves
- Super Lucky’s Tale
- Crackdown 3
- Middle-Earth: Shadow of War
In addition, these existing Xbox One games are getting free One X enhancements:
- Gears of War 4
- Forza Horizon 3
- Killer Instinct
- Halo Wars 2
- Final Fantasy XV
- Resident Evil 7
- Ghost Recon: Wildlands

The Xbox One X will be released on November 7, 2017, and it will cost just $499.
