Sometime in mid-April, Microsoft released the Windows 10 Mobile Insider preview build 14322. One peculiar issue with this software build was the absence of the FM Radio. Users initially thought this was a bug until a member of the Windows Insider Engineering team confirmed the omission. See tweets below:

Apparently, Microsoft killed off the FM Radio on grounds that people download third party radio apps from the Store. This is partly true, but it doesn’t apply to most people in this part of the world. People still appreciate the FM Radio in Africa, Asia and South America. So it seems streaming stations are the only options available from now on to Windows Phone users who want to listen to the radio.

  1. If it ain’t broken, don’t remove it. Not everyone has access to cheap, unlimited Internet to be streaming radio.
