If you love typing huge chunks of text out on your smartphone, in all probability, you want a hardware QWERTY device. should you be on a budget, here are my recommendations on the two most affordable in the market at the moment.
BlackBerry Curve 9320
The Blackberry 9320 has a 2.44-inch display, 800 MHz processor and the very latest Blackberry OS7.1. It has got FM radio in there and Mobile hotspot. The 9320 is fitted with a Li-Ion 1450 mAh battery, the beefiest on any modern Blackberry smartphone.
The 9320 costs around N38,000.
Samsung Galaxy Y Pro B5510
Samsung’s Galaxy Y Pro has a 2.6-inch display, 832 MHz processor, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and packs a 1200 mAh battery. I am suspicious of that battery though. A 1500 mAh battery would have given me greater peace of mind.
Still, it is a capable budget smartphone messenger that you should look at if a BlackBerry is not your thing. The Galaxy Y Pro costs around N26,000.
Both of the above devices have 3.5G internet connectivity, 3.2 megapixel cameras, Bluetooth, microSD card slot, and USB connectivity, so they are pretty even on a lot of fronts.
If you are looking for a device with great audio reproduction, the BlackBerry is the better of the two. It beats lots of more premium device even at that. Should you be an app junkie, the Galaxy is the way to go, as it gives you access to the extensive apps on Google’s Play Store.
