MTN has given Cameroon it’s first 4G LTE Network

Cameroon witnessed the launch of its first 4G LTE network when MTN launched its 4G network on the 17th of December, 2015. Initial roll-out for the service covers Yaoundé, Douala, Bamenda and Buea on the 18th of December. Early bird subscribers in Yaounde are reporting download speeds of up to 66.99 Mbps.

As part of 4G launch activities, MTN Cameroon is offering Free 4G data and SIM. The network is also selling 4G MiFi for 34,900F and the LTE-compliant Smart Mini L860 smartphone for 57,900 CFA Francs (approx. US$ 96). 4G coverage will be extended to other parts of the country over time by the Y’hello network.

  1. That’s the million Naira question. I guess because we have “broadband” they don’t see the need to introduce 4G in a hurry. Maybe we should blame the NCC? 😀
