Huawei teases a Hongmeng-powered smartphone in Q4 2019

HongMeng OS will be officially unveiled this month at Huawei’s developer conference and it will debut on the Honor Smart TV.  However, the grapevine says that a Hongmeng-powered smartphone is expected to go on sale in the last quarter of the year.

The US government slammed heavy trade sanctions on Huawei this year. Those sanctions include a blockage from access to Android OS licences. Though there has been talk of relaxing those restrictions, Huawei is holding HongMeng OS as its get-out-of-jail card.

We sure would like to see a HongMeng-powered smartphone, if only for the novelty of it.

  1. One thing that really makes me happy about this is that, if eventually this was released, and it could stand shoulder to shoulder with Android OS then, the US government would be learning a great lesson from this and desist from sanctioning other mobile manufacturers on thier list
