Apple’s latest and greatest iPhone is the iPhone 7 (and the iPhone 7 Plus). As expected, it has sold in droves. There are no statistics for sales in Nigeria yet (as if there are ever any statistics for anything). Jumia travel has shared with us some funny reasons why Nigerians will not buy iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus. We have spiced it up a bit for your delight. Enjoy!
Why Nigerians Will Not Buy iPhone 7
Here are some of the funny reasons why many Nigerians will not be buying the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
You can buy a plot of land with the money
In places like Abeokuta, Sango Otta, Badore and other outskirts of Lagos, you can still buy a plot of land for almost N500,000. Besides, you can use the money to renew your rent for a year. Meanwhile, at the current exchange rate, the iPhone 7 will cost you about N420,000. Tah!
EFCC is waiting for you
The present government in Nigeria is hell bent on fighting corruption. So, EFCC (the agency that fights economic and financial crimes) might just come knocking on your door to find out how you are able to afford an iPhone 7 or 7 Plus. We also hear that in China, you dare not buy the iPhone if you don’t want to lose your job. Don’t ask us for our source, please.
Recession, but no retreat
While we know that Nigeria is in a recession, and most residents are unable to afford Apple’s new shiny devices, rich Nigerians are not known to hold back from splurging on the latest luxury items in the market. There are people in Nigeria already using the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Nigerians are buying!
London Used on the way
In Nigeria, if you cannot afford to buy brand new gadget or device, the next best thing is the London used aka fairly used unit. And guess what? No-one will know the difference when you flaunt your phone. It is just a matter of time.
