It has just been some days since we reviewed the Nokia 6.1 here on MobilityArena and then its upgrade, the Nokia 6.2, shows up to pay us a visit Of course, a Nokia 6.1 vs Nokia 6.2 comparison became an inevitability. There was no way we could resist it.
How much of an upgrade is it? Are there any compromises in the 2019 model? Of course, being from 2018, the Nokia 6.1 costs less than its fresher sibling, but our review showed that it is still very much capable a year after its release.

In addition, while the Nokia 6.1 has a Series 6000 Aluminium body, the 6.2 has a glass sandwich body. The former has a nice solid feel, while the latter is slippery. Glass is sexier and trendier in 2019, but we suspect it is not as durable. It has Gorilla Glass protection though, so it just might not be as fragile as it looks. If you handle your smartphone the way most people do, I recommend that you get a protective case for your Nokia 6.2.
Nokia 6.1 Vs Nokia 6.2: What is better on the 6.1?
The 6000 series aluminum unibody of the Nokia 6.1 is a superb piece of work, and I would take it over the glass sandwich body of its more recent sibling. It is beautiful and also more durable.
I suspect that most other people will disagree, but the wioder 16:9 aspect ratio of the display is much more comfortable for me, especially with the smaller size. No stretching to reach the top of the display.
Lastly, 18W fast charging is a much sweeter deal than the 10W charging technology that is on the 6.2.
Nokia 6.1 Vs Nokia 6.2: What’s better on the 6.2?
The Nokia 6.2 has a bigger, taller, narrower display, which is more in line with 2019 trends. that display also has HDR10, making it capable of handling higher quality content.
The triple camera at the back is a much better camera than that of its predecessor. Having used the cameras of both phones, it is clear that the lack of a Zeiss branding on the 6.2 does not put it in bad light beside the 6.1.
The Snapdragon 636 processor is more capable too, though clocked slightly lower. But in use, the Nokia 6.2 definitely runs more smoothly than the 6.1.
In terms of internal storage, you get double what the Nokia 6.1 offers, and you get double the memory card capacity too. Plus it is a dedicated card slot, so you can use 2 SIM cards in the phone along with a memory card.
The 6.2 also has USB On-The-Go, meaning you can connect a USB accessory e.g. a flash drive, to it for use. And the battery is bigger than too, though fast charge technology is the first generation type. I wish HMD Global didn’t downgrade the charging speed, but I will takle 10W fast charge with a 3500mAh battery than 18W fast charge with a 3000mAh unit.
Nokia 6.1 Vs Nokia 6.2: Conclusion
The Nokia 6.2 is a distinctly solid upgrade to the 6.1, no question about that. Pound for pound, it offers more features and a much better experience than its predecessor. If you have ₦72,000 to spend, go for it.
But if you are on a slightly lower budget and cannot afford the 6.2 but want a phone with the stock Android experience and guaranteed software updates, the Nokia 6.1 is a beautiful, well crafted piece of work.
And so, here we are at the end of our Nokia 6.1 vs Nokia 6.2 comparison.
