An early Nokia 8.1 Plus leak provides interesting details, including a 6.22-inch display with a punch hole camera.
Nokia’s naming scheme has us bewildered here once again. You see, this Plus model measures 156.9 x 76.2 x 7.9 mm against the 154.8 x 75.8 x 8 mm of the regular Nokia 8.1. To put it differently, its 6.22-inch screen is only minutely bigger than the 6.18-inch display of the 8.1.
So, what does the Plus stand for? Perhaps a bigger battery. Or perhaps a more powerful processor.
A leaked image shows an edge-to-edge display with a punch hole camera for selfie lovers. There is no notch in view. The back side of the phone sports a dual camera with Zeiss branding and dual LED flash. Below that is a fingerprint sensor.
If you look closely at the Nokia 8.1 Plus leaked images, you will see that despite the fairly thin chin at the bottom of the display, HMD Global manages to put the Nokia branding there.
At the top end of the device is a 3.5mm audio jack.
Will this be a flagship device – a more likely successor to the Nokia 8 Sirocco? The Nokia 8.1 didn’t fit that role. Perhaps that is the mission of this Plus version.
