Nokia X, X+ and XL Now Handle Multitasking Much Better

Nokia XL in hand 2

It is a pity that this line of products is being discontinued by Microsoft. The latest software version update adds new features and improved usability to the platform. I updated the in-house Nokia X here at MOBILITY this morning. The update was 119MB in size and took place OTA (Over-The-Air).

While the X platform offered multitasking earlier, it wasn’t in a very efficient way for users. Now, simply swipe down from the top of the display to pull down the notification menu. Just below the SIM panel, you will now see two horizontal tabs – the one to the left is the “Recent Apps” or App Switcher tab, while the other is the “Settings” tab. Tap the left tab to launch the App Switcher – a horizontal carousel of recently used apps.

You are able to select the app you want to go to, close a single app or close all apps (swipe up from the bottom of the display).

Much better than the way it worked before. Other new features from th update include: OneNote, Outlook.com, a new Store, and Spider Man Ultimate Power game demo.

This update is available for Nokia X, X+ and XL. You can manually check for the update on your device by going to Settings > About phone > System update > Check now.
