Pepsi is making Android phones too: check out the Pepsi P1

The rate at which Android devices are churned out almost daily is crazy. Just when we thought we’ve seen it all, Pepsi shows up with an Android phone of some sort. Images leaks have surfaced on the web showing a Pepsi branded Android device. The phone named “Pepsi P1” would reportedly be sold only in China, and below are it’s key specifications:

  • 5.5-inch 1080p screen.
  • 1.7 GHz MediaTek processor.
  • 16 internal storage with 2 GB of RAM.
  • 13 MP/5 MP camera.
  • Android 5.1 Lollipop.
  • Battery capacity 3000 mAh.

A Pepsi spokesperson confirmed with Reuters via email:

The food and beverage company however has no plans to get into the mobile phone manufacturing business.

Available in China only, this effort is similar to recent globally licensed Pepsi products which include apparel and accessories.

Apparently, the company simply licensed its brand to a Chinese manufacturer. From the leaked image, there’s a Pepsi logo behind this phone. Is that a fingerprint scanner there too? The Pepsi P1 is valued at around $205. Would you bite?

  1. Just another way for Pepsi to position their brand in the minds of (potential customers).

Didn’t D’Banj also have a phone branded in his name the other time?

    China makes this trivial…

  2. It’s all about getting the brand out there. Expect more companies to do the same (if they haven’t already).

A nice limited edition run will exchange hands for a good price and will become a collector’s item.

    1. i really doubt that’s the objective here, plus the OEM doesn’t have anything to gain from such

  3. Rather expensive for the specs on offer, but then it can end up a collector’s item and again not a bad advertising move on Pepsi’s part..

  4. I’ll rather drink Pepsi! I’m dead sure this us a marketing srunt just to pull the wool over buyers eyes.

I no go fall for this at all
