Zacks Jerry Rig is known for torturing his phones so you don’t have to torture yours. That is a commendable public service, I must say. Like you, I have not had the courage to torture any of mine. But he has conducted the phone durability test that everyone wants to see.

So, thanks to him, we have a list that spells out the most durable phones of 2018. That means, if you want to buy the most durable smartphones that money can buy right now, this is the list to see.

The list also spells out the most repairable phone, as well as the least durable phones released last year. And you wont believe some of the models mentioned.

The Most Durable Phones 2018

Sitting at the top of the list of most durable smartphones is the Kyocera DuraForce Pro 2. Some of you probably have never heard of Kyocera before, but the Japanese manufacturer has been making mobile phones since the year 2000AD. Here is what the DuraForce Pro 2 looks like:

Kyocera DuraForce Pro - most durable phone 2018

Key features of the Kyocera DuraForce Pro 2 Android smartphone include: 5.0″ IPS LCD display, water/dust/shock resistant build, Snapdragon 617 chipset, 13 megapixel + 2 megapixel primary dual camera, 5 megapixel front camera, and a 3240 mAh battery.

The Most Durable Phones 2018: Budget

And now, we have a brand name that is well known and loved by millions of smartphone users around the world. The Nokia 7 Plus went home with prize in this category. It was named the most durable budget smartphone of 2018 by Jerry Rig.

I used and reviewed the Nokia 7 Plus last year and I can testify to how durable it is. I never had to worry about it the way I worry about the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus.

The most repairable smartphones of 2018

Again, Nokia is here with two of their smartphones, Nokia 6.1 and Nokia 7 Plus, winning this category.

The Least Durable Phones 2018

Some of the fanciest smartphones from last year made this list: Huawei Mate 20 Pro and Huawei P20 Pro sit firmly on this table. They both have great cameras but apparently not the most solid physical build.

But then, all that glass in front and at the back of both Huawei models make for slippery and fragile phones. Nothing goes for nothing. Having reviewed quite a number of all-glass phones, I can tell you for free to stay away from them if you arent an extremely careful user. If you do want one, get a protective case for it.

But the device that absolutely failed the easiest was the OPPO FindX – the guy with the slider mechanism. It was named the least durable phone of 2018 by Jerry Rigs.

Sometimes, innovation comes at a huge cost. We already knew that. The more mechanical parts a device has, the greater the chance of damage. That is how the FindX found itself at the bottom of this list.

Want To Go Phone Shopping?

Thanks to Jerry’s phone durability test, you have the most durable phones 2018, the most repairable, as well as the least durable. If this is the info you have been waiting for to make a purchase decision, now you can get to it.

It is good to see Nokia live up to its old reputation as a manufacturer of pnones that age well and can take a fair amount of abuse. On the flip side, I didn’t see the Kyocera coming. I bet you didn’t either.
