The Official Motorola Oreo Update List: Is your Moto on it?

If you own a Moto mobile phone and have been looking forward to news about Motorola’s plans to update your device to Android Oreo, the company has published an official list of devices that will receive the update. We have all the phones on the Motorola Oreo Update list for you.

These are the Motorola phones that will be updated with Android 8 Oreo:

  1. Moto Z,
  2. Moto Z Droid,
  3. Moto Z Force Droid,
  4. Moto Z Play,
  5. Moto Z Play Droid,
  6. Moto Z2 Play,
  7. Moto Z2 Force Edition,
  8. Moto X4,
  9. Moto G5,
  10. Moto G5 Plus,
  11. Moto G5S,
  12. Moto G5S Plus.

Moto G4 series owners must be disapoointed. Clearly, there is no Oreo love for owners of budget Motorola smartphones. Same for Moto C and Moto E series devices as well. Budget devices get no love.

But Moto G4 and G4 Plus owners must be particularly heartbroken. At launch, Moto announced Android O updates for these devices, but they do not show up on this official update list from Motorola. Lenovo, what’s up?

When Is The Moto Oreo Update Happening?

Motorola hasn’t committed to a calendar yet, but says the update will start rolling out “this fall”. That sounds like anytime from September 2017.

In the meantime, is your Moto smartphone on the official Oreo update list?

    1. With a 1.5 GHz processor and 2 GB RAM, Moto G4 is anything but powerful. That’s entry level. Same goes for Moto G4 Plus.

Still, it would have been nice for Motorola to pull off updates for them. Someone in the Android ecosystem needs to replicate what Apple does with software updates. I had hoped it would be Motorola. I was wrong.

  1. Thanks Mr Mo. I wrote this out of frustration because they (including android manufacturers) are depriving ‘middle budget’ buyers from enjoying the goodies of latest updates.
