Price War: Nokia Lumia 520 Tackles Huawei Ascend W1

Lumia 520

About two weeks ago, I wrote about how the Huawei Ascend W1 has become the most affordable Windows Phone 8 smartphone in the Nigerian market. At N19,999, the Huawei held that spot against the Lumia 520 which was priced around N25,000 then. But guess which Windows Phone is being sold at N19,895 now?

Yes; the Lumia 520.

Look, there is no significant difference in price, though if we want to nitpick, we have to give the more affordable tag to the Lumia 520. Right now, it is merely a question of preference. Which do you prefer – the Ascend W1 or the Lumia 520? Your call.

Though the flash and larger battery on the W1 is tempting, but the extra 4GB (4GB vs 8GB) and FM radio on the Lumia 520 makes it a perfect pick for me given the opportunity to pick one out of the two phones.
