Yesterday at the International radio exhibition Berlin(IFA 2012), Samsung announced an update to the Galaxy Note. The Galaxy Note 2 like it’s predecessor dwells in the phablet range with the screen size at a gigantic 5.5 inches, up from 5.3 on the original Note. It takes the oversized shape of a Galaxy SIII also at the same time longer and thinner than it’s predecessor all while using the same chassis albeit with a thinner bezel.
The battery too was also bumped from the already large 2,500mAH battery to a huge 3, 100mAH which is definitely an improvement. Another thing to note(pun intended) is that it ships with the latest iteration of Android; Jellybean. Other outstanding features include :
- 5.5 inches
- 1,280 x 720 HD Super AMOLED display
- 9.4mm thick
- 2 gigabytes of RAM
- quad-core Exynos processor clocked at 1.6GHz
- Longer and fatter SPen with rubber tip.
- NFC(Near Field Communication)
This is a huge upgrade considering that apart from the hardware Samsung also throw in some software features such as Air view which allows you to view media such as pictures or video just by hovering the SPen over it. Another feature is Quick commands that can be assigned to the pen to do certain tasks or applications
Another feature i find innovative is that when you remove the pen and you take it far away from the phone, an alert is going to be shown onscreen letting you know that the pen is getting too far. This is certainly a welcome feature for people that are guilty of misplacing little things such as the SPen. It will be available towrads the end of the year/Q4.
As a current Galaxy Note user i must say that i am excited with the features of the Note 2 and that i will absolutely get it when it becomes available. What do you think and will you be getting one?
