Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra 5G: Everything you wanted to know about the 2022 premium flagship

The Galaxy S series is Samsung’s premium flagship line-up and a new model is released every year. The top dog model carries the “Ultra” tag. Last year’s top model was Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. And in 2022, there is massive expectation towards the announcement and release of Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra 5G, the 2022 premium flagship from the Korean brand.

If past patterns are anything to go by, other models in this year’s Galaxy S line-up will include the vanilla Galaxy S22 5G, the Galaxy S22+ 5G, and the Galaxy S22 FE 5G. One leakster reports that the first 3 will all have glass backs[1]. Samsung has a history of using plastic back for the vanilla model, while the Plus and Ultra models get glass backs.

As is the tradition with Samsung, we will see an Exynos 2200 version for the international market. A variant with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset will likely sell in the United States and China. Does anyone know why Samsung implements that dichotomy? We’d like to know too.

Rumours are that the S22 Ultra 5G will also have S Pen stylus support. There are those who say that the Galaxy S Ultra range are the successors to the now discontinued Galaxy Note series. That waits to be seen.

The phone is reported to be coming in Phantom Black, Phantom White, Green and Burgundy colour schemes. We are expecting the official unveiling this January 2022, or at the latest, in February.
