Say hello to the first Custom ROM on Lumia phones

To those of us who had concluded that rooting and custom ROMs were for Android phones alone, sorry. Kpele 😛 I’m gladly announcing to you that Lumia phones have just joined the party. See screenshot below:

A forum based in Poland have successfully rooted and prepared a custom ROM for the Microsoft Lumia 625. The ROM is still in it’s early stages of development, so it doesn’t come with earth shattering changes. Despite this, the new ROM takes the phone to WP8.1 GDR2 and it has the following features:

  • 3rd party apps removed.
  • Polish dictionary and speech included.
  • Interop unlocked out of the box, and remained unlocked after factory reset and upgrading to Windows 10 Mobile.
  • Accent color changed.
  • Few other minor cosmetic changes.

Exciting times ahead for Windows Phone users 🙂 You can find out more about this custom ROM HERE.

  1. Th best thing about Windows Phones is that, unlike Android phones, it doesn’t come with lots of annoying bloatware. Most of the Nokia apps can be uninstalled. I’d like to see them try this in a Samsung Ativ S – now that would probably be worth rooting!

    1. lol, you mean Windows Phone users, Windows users are not new to modding, especially in the WinMo era
