Skype has now hit 1 billion mobile downloads

In a blog post yesterday, Skype announced that their download count on mobile devices has hit 1billion. This feat was achieved in about 7 years, when the first app was released on iTunes Store. The app is covered on iPhones, iPad, Android and wearables:

That’s a huge milestone and we wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone that has downloaded Skype on their mobile. Wherever you are, from the US and Russia, to the Cocos Islands and Pitcairn (guess how many people use Skype in Pitcairn #SkypeTrivia), you’ve all helped Skype grow from just a few users in Tallinn, Estonia, to hundreds of millions in every corner of the earth.

Skype as we know, is one of the most popular way of making video calls. A Windows 10 mobile version of the app will soon be released.
