In March this year, Facebook acquired Snaptu, the popular social media app specifically targeted low-processor mobile devices. It was clear that it was only a matter of time before support for other services was dropped.
Shortly after the acquisition, Facebook for Every Phone, a mobile app based on Snaptu, was released.
Now effective Nov. 11, support for other apps that ran on Snaptu, including Twitter, Cricinfo and LinkedIn, has been discontinued. Snaptu is Facebook.
Damn Facbook. Perhaps they should be sued. Stifling competition!
With this move, Snaptu hss been rendered useless (to me).
I have just removed Snaptu from my phone…
Thank God for Gravity, Socially, etc..
Just deleted my facebook account because of this, snaptu made me join, i principally use twittter, but nw its gone………….i hate fb
It was really painfull to see the end of beautiful snaptu just like that!
Outrageous….i dont even bloo*y facebk again. Not only twitter, other interesting apps like hecklespray, endgadget, kotaku, jezebel, celebitchy etc were dumped. Gee!
The world isn’t ending – there are alternatives out there. Missing the fast access to Twitter, Facebook, news, sports scores and more? Why not try apps like biNu. Free download from m.binu.com.
Been pondering…why buy something, and then willfully decapitate it?
Just for the ‘Facebook For Feature Phones’? What?
That question led me to http://goo.gl/uQZ4z
I was enjoying snaptu on my former nokia N97, but somehow some of the apps that I enjoyed so much like vanguard, CNN, BBC, Ajazeera, Engadget, guardian sport and other sport apps that gave live reports for EPL, Laliga, Bundlesliga etc ceased to work. I uninstaled it before I sold the phone off. Before snaptu was a great app but now useless.
