The Xiaomi Mi 4 was launched back in 2014 running Android 4.4.3 (KitKat) out-of-the-box. My unit arrived in November 2015 running Android 4.4.4. If we go by Xiaomi’s announcements, the Mi 4 received Android 5.1.1-based MIUI 7 update in October 2015 and some users are reporting getting Marshmallow already.
Here is the issue: my unit is yet to so much as get 5.1.1 Lollipop, not even to mention 6.0 Marshmallow. I have my device set to check automatically. I also do a manual check at least once a week. Nada. Zilch. Mba. The thing no gree see update. I am beginning to suspect that something is wrong with my Xiaomi Mi 4. Any other users out there? What have your experiences been?
PS1: I have been told again and again that Xiaomi devices have their updates tied to an active Mi account. My device has been logged in to a Mi user account for weeks – and still no software updates.
PS2: No; I don’t want to do a manual download and installation of the update.

download the latest official stock rom
flash it.
shocked that you have stayed on MIUI v6 all this while.
some devices couldn’t make the OS version jump via OTA.
i suspect the Mi4 is one of them
Ashipa,
I have downloaded and installed the ROM on that link before. It is exactly what is running on my unit now – MIUI7 on Android 4.4.4 KitKat.
OK.
I thought you were on v6.
In that case people who say they have newer OS are probably using the dev channel OS or joined a beta program. Xiaomi is always running those, asking for closed group testers.
I should ask one of their official devs. Will let u know if I receive a response
