Sony may be having trouble selling smartphones, but on the home video game console side, the Japanese corporation is selling truckloads of Playstation 4 systems. A special 500 Million Limited Edition PS4 Pro has been launched to celebrate the sale of over 500 million PlayStation systems.
The original PlayStation was launched in Japan in 1994. The latest iterations of the system have been very successful in the market. PlayStation 4 was launched in 2013 and was followed by PlayStation 4 Pro in 2016. Both systems have sold well. In all, Sony Interactive Entertainment say it has sold over 525 million PlayStation systems worldwide since the console first launched 24 years ago.
500 Million Limited Edition PS4 Pro Features
The 500 Million Limited Edition PS4 Pro has a translucent dark blue console shell. It is complemented by a matching DualShock 4 wireless controller, and also features a PlayStation Camera, Vertical Stand, mono headset, and 2TB hard drive.
Each system will have a commemorative copper plate on its front, with its limited edition serial number etched on. Also, there will be a handful of ‘extra special’ systems. These will have serial numbers that commemorate important events in the history of PlayStation e.g. US launch dates of various models.
If you want this collector’s item, it will cost $499.99. But be sure to hurry to get one as soon as they are available on the 24th of August 2018. Sony says only 50,000 units will be made worldwide. Keep your eyes on PS4 retailer websites.
