Same old design since the OG xperia Z,wonder what their R&D team gets up to..
SONY makes excellent, practical smartphones but – their insistence on glass backs is silly, Apple & HTC who are fanatical about premium materials and optics walked away from glass backs, why are Android OEMs still here? – why don’t they reduce the huge lower bezels or switch to capacitive keys? my flatmate has the Xperia Z2 & i used to have the Z1, so I’m not knocking their engineering from reviews. that said the new Zs (SONY announced 3 variants) are really good, they would be better with metal backplates and thinner bezels and wireless charging and bigger batteries but they’re really good. also amusing to see SONY involved in a specs race, the Z5 Premium sports a 5.5-inch 4K (3840×2160) display, 806 PPI display. that’s beyond ridiculous, even Samsung haven’t gone that far off the reservation
don’t see why that’s a problem, even if it were true, which it isn’t. fact is there’s really a limited amount of refinement you can do with the smartphone form factor (rectangular slab) without compromising on function (ask Samsung & Oppo). The only things I’d have appreciated form wise are a metal/plastic/polycarbonate backplate & thinner bezels/capacitive keys
