Samsung has released a new app which allows uses to customize audio settings on their device. This app is called SoundAssistant, and it is restricted to Samsung Galaxy users that are on Android 7.0 and beyond. SoundAssistant is an app that gives the user a quick way to access some of their device’s audio controls. It also gives you features not found in the default sound settings of your device.
With SoundAssistant, you can personalize your device to control its sound environment on an app-by-app basis, as well as by time of day. Furthermore, there is support for a floating equalizer. This makes it easier to access instead of going into the device settings every time you need to tweak the equalizer. The app allows for 150 steps of volume adjustment as well as mono and stereo balancing. Furthermore, the app lets you change the volume key behavior, defaulting to media volume instead of ringtone volume. This feature is usually found on some custom ROMs.
SoundAssistant lets Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ users set different output paths for each app. for example, you could pay music through a Bluetooth speaker while playing game music through the device speaker.
For now, this app is only available to Galaxy devices running Android 7.0 Nougat and above. Since it is an official Samsung app, it works without need for root access. However, there’s no word yet on whether Samsung will make the app available for Galaxy devices not running Android 7.0 and other non-Galaxy devices.
Here are the features of the app:
- It allows you to control the media volume instead of the ringtone when pressing the volume keys
- Supports individual application volume (You can control the volume of music and games differently)
- 150 steps of fine volume and support Floating Equalizer
- Create and activate personalized sound settings
- Support mono and left/right balance
